NFL Post Season Picks

So in my preseason predictions I picked Baltimore over Green Bay, now that can still happen, BUT I don’t see it happen. Though if it does I’m totally claiming that I did.  I also nailed 7 of the 12 playoff teams.  Not too shabby.  But going into the playoffs I’m making some other picks.  Here’s my post season NFL picks.

Jimmy John Big Ten Challenge Bowl Picks

7 games left, Chad 2 games up on both Kyle and I. A lot of things could happen with all 3 of us still having a chance to win, and lose. So for one final week, here we go with the our Big Ten Picks.

Sports Moment of the Year

The Cubs 2012 Season was one to forget (as will 2013 most likely be) but in the sports world the Cubs turned in My Sports Moment of the Year.

Kerry Wood is a top 5 favorite Cub of mine. He’s had some bad breaks in his career and 2003 should have ended in the World Series. He had the 20 K game in his 5th start that was a thing of magic. The only way Hollywood wrote a better ending was if it was in the World Series, but Kid K ends his career on a strike out vs the cross town rivals, a standing ovation and a hug from his little boy at the top of the dugout.

Try and top that.

GFR Rankings - Nov 25

Well that didn't take to long.  3 Weeks ago the Tide lost their strangle hold on #1, two weeks that belonged to A&M and Oregon, but now after a huge win over arch rival Auburn and the Tide is back at #1.  The Ducks and the Aggies are right behind the Tide at #2 and #3.

BCS #1 12-0 Notre Dame and Big Ten ineligible unbeaten Buckeyes sit back a bit with the Irish at #4 and Buckeyes at #7.  The SEC also has taken the top conference away from the Big XII.

The complete rankings can be viewed here.

GFR Rankings - Nov 18

Upset weekend in College Football.  What once looked like Oregon and K-State rolling to Miami 48 hours ago, and the SEC being shut out has now opened back up to an SEC smorgasbord.  Now the Irish are the only (eligible) unbeaten team left to have a shot at Miami.  But they aren't number one in the GFR.  Notre Dame moved up a spot to 3 but the #1 slot belongs to the Aggies.  Texas A&M jumped from 5 to 1 over Alabama, the Irish and last weeks #1 Oregon.

2 weeks ago it looked like Alabama roll to a title, then Oregon running to one....now its all up for grabs.  How about a playoff this year?

The Big XII is still the strongest league ahead of the SEC barely.

Big Ten Predictions - Week 12

BIG TEN
GAME OF THE WEEK
OHIO STATE vs WISCONSIN

2 more weeks of the regulation left and Wisconsin has already clinched a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game thanks to the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions suspension.  The Badgers need some style points to move up in case they fall in the title game, the Buckeyes are playing for pride.  This game last year was a barn burner with Braxton Miller tossing a hail mary to win it under a minute left.

GFR College Football Rankings

Gig'Em!  The Aggies did the unthinkable and beat the once thought unbeatable.  And did it in style in Alabama's home stadium.

Freshman Johnny Manziel may have just earned a trip to New York City also for the Heisman Ceremony with his performance vs the Tide.

With the loss, Alabama did not fall to far from last week, dropping from 1 to 3.  A&M jumped from 7 to 5 ahead of the Seminoles and Buckeyes.

So for a week the Ducks are the new #1 by a decent margin over #2 K-State.

Conference wise, the SEC is closing the gap on the Big XII.  Both hold a size able gap over the Big Ten and PAC-12.

Garwin Rankings

This weeks rankings are out, and the top 4 stayed the same....but shuffled a little bit.

Alabama continued to hold on to the top spot in this weeks Garwin Rankings with their last minute win in Baton Rouge.  Oregon's win in L.A. has moved them up to the #2 spot.  Florida State and THE Ohio State stay in the 5 and 6 slots.

SEC new comer Texas A&M is the 2nd highest SEC team in the GFR with Florida a few spots behind.

Garwin Rankings & More

Big Weekend in college football.  Notre Dame is back.  Florida gets knocked from the unbeatens AND KState keeps rolling.  This week all we get is a Bama-LSU slobber knocker.

This week I’m going to combine My Top 7 along with the Garwin Rankings and GR Conf Strength Post, so here we go.

I’m a big fan of this KState team.  I think they can and will run the table and have overall had more impressive wins than Oregon and Notre Dame to date, BUT I think that the only team that will be able to hang with Bama (who is on cruise control) is Oregon.  I don’t think KState or ND’s offense could do much vs the Tide where as Oregon I’d be curious to see.  Oregon’s slate gets tougher coming up with Stanford, Cal, USC, Oregon State and a possible USC rematch.  The Irish also have a date with USC so the Trojans get a chance to play spoiler in the next few weeks. I think the SEC is lurking with teams waiting to jump on Bama (LSU, UGA) but Bama should roll them and make it to Miami.

This week in the Garwin Rankings.  Bama holds on to the top spot with a  sizeable margin over #2 K-State.  Oregon dropped from 2 to 4 after drubbing a BAD Colorado team, and are just barely behind the Fighting Irish.  Florida drops 3 to 7 after the loss to Georgia and hello Texas A&M and Louisville to the top 10.  Clemson also returns after improving to 7-1.

The Big XII is by far the strongest conference and the SEC is still second, both separating from the other conferences.

Big Ten Football - Week 9 Picks

BIG TEN
GAME OF THE WEEK
OHIO STATE vs PENN STATE
You can probably argue that 2 teams on probation matching up vs each other can’t be the game of the week, and the 2 teams in Lincoln this week may argue it.  But right now OSU & PSU are the 2 best teams in the league.  OSU is coming off a fight with Purdue where Braxton Miller was hurt.  He is expected to play this week.  PSU is high off a Big Ten Network Primetime game destruction of the Hawks.  Though no one is going bowling or to Indy, this should be a great game.

Garwin Rankings

Thankfully though technology sometimes can suck…it can be restored and rebuilt, with that, welcome back new and improved Garwin Rankings!

Alabama takes the spot this week as Oregon State plummets with the Pac-12 conference showing some flaws.  Alabama is reaping benefits of Michigan hashing out Big Ten wins.  The SEC holds strong too taking 3 of the Top 10 slots with the Big XII slotting 2.
