Best and Worst of the Weekend – GOOOOOAALL!!!

Weekend was pretty good, really good weather and some good times.  Friday night my oldest and I went to go pick up supper at La Hacienda and then to pick out a movie.  Her choice was “We Bought a Zoo”.  It was pretty good, really liked it.  Matt Damon did a pretty good job and it’s a great daddy-daughter movie.  There are some times that I wonder about with my boy and the way Damon interacts with his son, that made me think of interaction with mine.  The little girl in it was just cute too!  There were some sad parts too but it but it was really good with the idea of not giving up, living an adventure and the relationship with a father and kids.  It’s on redbox, recommend going to get it!  3 / 5 Stars.

Saturday my oldest and I went down to the farmers market late morning, my boy had allergies bugging him so he stayed home.  Addy and I talked about what she wanted to get her mom for mother’s day.  We walked around a bit and she found what she wanted.  After that we headed home to a mess with the dishwasher leaking water and suds all over.  I’m thinking great Saturday!  It wasn’t much the door wasn’t closed all the way and thankfully my boy noticed it before it got any worse.  The rest of Saturday involved the kids playing outside and grilling.  I rented New Years Eve Saturday night but allergies killed me and I ended up crashing hard.

Sunday the kids got up WAY to early.  Made them breakfast…my youngest has a new food love, cinnamon eggo waffles.  She LOVES them.  I did my normal Sunday morning, watching CBS Sunday Morning and Face the Nation.  It was amazing out so all the kids played outside, had Ry out on the deck baby gated in and she loved it.  She got into the older kids side walk chalk.  Her mouth was blue after she put it in her mouth…also had some blue chalk on her face and looked like she had a makeup artist from Bravehart working on her.  :)

Sunday also meant another soccer game.  We played a team that we played in week 1.  It wasn’t much of a matchup and the kids really played well.  Lotta good defense and moves and offense.  Gave up 1 goal if I remember right.  Also Addy got her first goal of the year!  One of our fastest players wanted to help get her a goal and so Addy kind of cherry picked down at our goal and then our team would go to kick it down there toward her and lead her to kick it in.  After a few near misses and a ball that just went in she finally got it and kicked the ball in.  She had a HUGE  smile on her face, ran over to me and gave me too fives and a hug.  Then ran back out there to play more.  She almost got a few more goals.  It was fun and find myself getting into it more each week.  Also got the team and Addy’s soccer pictures in the mail too.  They looked really good, I wish we weren’t a man down in the team picture.   They are a great group of kids.  The rest of the day was spent with laundry, bath night, supper, the kids playing outside and napping and then Celebrity Apprentice to end the night.

Pretty good weekend over all, Monday morning wasn’t fun but hopefully the rest of the week is better, it looks like it will be nice and I’ll get to mow in and also maybe see Avengers again.

One thing I’ll say that is the worst is my snacking and the ankle.  I like frosting and that’s bad when I have a bum ankle.  My ankle hurts more when it’s in a tennis shoe that I run in and its more so the cut of the shoe and where my ankle bone is.  What makes it worse is that there were donuts at work on Friday and I had another one this morning.  Donuts are tasty but bad.  Goal is to get down 10-15 pds by the vacation taking the kids to Wisconsin.

Best and Worst of the Weekend – I got called OLD

Well that was a fun weekend, too quick of course but still fun. Friday after work I had to run home for the Orkin Man to come and spray some stuff around the house.  After that I got the older kids and then played a quick Xbox game before the “What’s for supper?  We’re hungry” started.  For some reason I’ve been not in the mood to cook or do dishes so S suggested we head to the checkerboard in Pleasantville.  We hadn’t been there in a while so I was all over that.  One, it meant no cooking OR dishes.  And two they have some cool stuff hung up all around the restaurant that it would distract my boy from being ornery.  Got there and the kids were all over the stuffed animals and stuff on the wall.  About the Longhorn above our table Brayden asked “What’s the curly things coming out of the cows ears?”  LOL, that was funny.  The bacon cheeseburger pizza was really good too!  Got home around 745 after the drive home and all 3 kids were OUT COLD!  It was one of the quietest car rides home that we’ve had since Ryleigh was born.  The rest of the night was uneventful and ended with bed around 10.

Saturday started with Girl Scouts and a trip to the dump and groceries.  Mom got to the house to watch the kids around 4.  S and I got a later start and then we wanted for the night.  Got downtown and the waits at the restaurants were already up to an hour and it was 530.  So….instead we hit up Gusto Pizza.  The Stallion was damn good as always.  After that we headed to the Well.  There was stuff going on at the IEC and Civic Center too so the Skywalk was pretty busy.  Got there and got some drinks and headed up to our seats, at the VERY TOP of the arena!  Get up there and on one side of us is a 60 year old couple and the other side are a couple of teenage girls.  They were trying to take a cell phone pic of themselves and I offered to take it for them and then asked if they were excited for the show.  They said yea only for Darius Rucker though!  I replied – “oh Hootie!”, one of them said to me “my dad saw him when he was Hootie”.  S looked at me and said “You just got called old!”  I went and got another beer.

This was my first concert since Tim & Faith at the Well in 2006.  Thompson Square came out and sang 4 songs, the 2 I knew “Are you gonna kiss me or not” and “I got you”, one I didn’t know and one they are releasing this week.  There was a little break and then out came Darius.  He was really good, did awesome, and he even broke out some Hootie!  My favorite though was when he busted out some Hank Williams Jr, Family Tradition.  That was awesome.  I saw he had it on iTunes but you need to get the whole album.  Before Lady A came out we mozied on down a little closer where S had some friends sitting and a couple open seats.  Just happened to be right on the side of the stage, so that was cool.  Now I’m not a big Lady A fan but they rocked it pretty good too.  I knew more of their songs than I thought I did.  I give that credit to Addyson since she LOVES them.  Got home and crashed pretty good, and woke up with a pretty good hangover, I had to go through my pockets and receipts to see where I was at, apparently I spent a bit of money at the Well on beer.

Sunday my mom woke up and said she wanted to go to the Cracker Barrel for breakfast, so I didn’t want to hurt her feelings.  Got there and got right in before the rush.  The rest of the day was filled with curing the hangover, laundry, naps for the kids and a little xbox and the kids watched the new Spy Kids movie.  Sunday night ended with crashing before 10pm for the first time in a while.  It was a solid weekend!

The worst of the weekend may have been my diet, ugh.  It started Friday morning when a coworker brought in her famous biscuits and gravy.  Now I did have a salad for lunch, but supper was pizza from the Checkerboard.  Now that wasn’t too bad.  But it continued to the weekend.  S made biscuits and gravy Saturday morning along with hash browns and scrambled eggs.  I had a homemade lumber man, and washed it down with a jitterbug from twisted bean.  Some calories where consumed there. Lunch was a few pieces of the leftover pizza and gusto pizza and then a lot of beer at the concert.  Sunday, well the Cracker Barrel and the smorgasbord of food you get there that included, yes biscuits and gravy (if you’re keeping score that’s 3 days in a row of B&G – not recommended by your doctor) and ham, bacon, eggs, cheesy hash browns and coffee.  No lunch happened and then supper was La Hacienda.  So ate out every mean but Saturday breakfast. That’s not a good thing.  Soooooo this week is going to be different.  I’m getting back on track with eating well.  Ryleigh is sleeping through the night and going to work on my sleep schedule better and then hitting the Y to work out.  It’s on like donkey kong.  You’re going down Dam to Dam.

Some other bummer news is that an aunt of mine is hitting some bad health problems.  She’s up there in age, like 90s and has lived a good long life, and its just getting close to time, so that’s some sad news.

Hawks got beat in Indiana, played well offensively, not defensively.

Hawks wrestling got back on track beating the Gophers.

Iowa State got a nice win vs Kansas, Hilton Magic gave them a spark.

Super Bowl this week, the last football game of the year till September 1st.

The Fads aka Money Stealers

Standing in the Wal-Mart line I saw all these magazines on diets, and also hear coworkers and family and friends talking.  There's the Hi-Low diet, weight watchers, slim fast, Atkins, and anything else out there, then add in all the surgeries that can go wrong.  .  It's amazing how people throw there money into these.

The only real way I've seen for people to lose weight and keep it off and be really healthy the way humans are supposed to be is this the following...now before I give the million dollar secret away I'm going to add a link to my PayPal account and you can donate 1.00 for me giving this away.

Ok..the secret is....BURN MORE CALORIES THAN YOU TAKE IN!  The guys on Biggest Loser have the secret too.  Also I'm living proof...Last year I lost 40 pounds by working out and running, and eating better and watching calories in.  Also gained a few back after the 3rd kid came too.  That's it...that's the secret.

You don't need to do gimmick diets, and then when you stop them, you will eventually gain the weight back too and maybe more.

So feel free to donate if you'd like, but that's the key.

Best and Worst of the Weekend

BEST - Weekend went really fast, I really don’t remember a lot of it.  Saturday the whole family went to the zoo and walked around and it was really good.  Enjoyed it a lot.  Hopefully that is a thing to come this weekend at the Omaha zoo.  Grilled out, mowed the back yard(only) and the kids played good.  We had pina coladas and chips and dip and it was good.  Brayden also had swim lessons Saturday, his first without a parent in there with him.  He did really well and had no fear of jumping in by himself and going deep into the pool.

WORST – Friday night I was in a grumpy mood.  I played som football, lost to Illinois but then beat Penn State Sunday.  And some golf.  I qualified for the Masters on Tigers Woods 12.  Sunday also sucked.  Well kind of.  Shawnna has us on an up down day diet.  Low calorie day followed by a high calorie day.  It was rough that first day, but made it.  Today is a high calorie day.  Hooray food!

Well what a way to end the weekend.  USA!  USA!  USA!  Osama Bin Laden was killed by US military this weekend.  Bad bad dude repsonsbile for 1993 attacks on the World Trade Center and 9/11 and he’s gone.  Buried at sea now after a shot to the head.  Way to go US.  Now please just don’t make this political.  The Democrats didn’t kill Bin Laden, the Republicans didn’t.  American Military did!  Be one party, the United States of America.

Congrats to all 6 Hawkeyes who were drafted this weekend too.  Adrian Clayborn to the Bucs, Christian Ballard to the Vikings, Stanzi to the Chiefs, Vandelvede to Philladelphia, Klug to the Titans, and Sash to the Giants.  How did Sash fall so far?  Damn you Bears you should have taken him!  DJK is still a UFA.  DJK should make a team, he has great talent, please Bears do this!

Again, great to be an American!  Great scenes of all Americans around the country.  To bad our politicans can’t act that way and be one!
